Dubai Business Trip 2006

I will travel to Dubai for Gitex IT Show in November 2006. Hope to get a Sundowner (Arabian Adventure) in while I'm there to see more than a show floor. Will stay in the Deira area and taxi it over to the Hall. Any tips or restaurant to visit would be welcomed. I am going to be a budget traveler on this one so no fancy restaurants (sob sob sob) and heavy shopping.

I looked on the web for Dubai info, but fond it hard to navigate and find interesting things. I will head over to PageOne (book store) and look for a Lonely Planet or like book to help me out a bit. From what I have heard it appears I'm walking into the Las Vegas of the Middle East.
